What we do

Pear takes a patient tumor biopsy and introduces it into an organ-on-a-chip. The chip and the hydrogel contained inside help recreate the human tumor microenvironment, which in turn drives cancer spread and drug resistance. Drugs are injected into parallel chips to compare the potential treatment options for a given patient. Daily images are taken over a 5 day period to monitor the progression of cancer in each chip vs the drug being injected through the respective chip. Time-lapsed images are processed through a computer vision algorithm that scores the likelihood of treatment response.

We use organ-on-chip and computer vision to model cancer spread and quantify the effects of drugs on cancer progression

  1. Recreating tumor microenvironment driven cancer spread and drug resistance
  2. Computer vision based methods to track the progression of cancer over time against various potential treatments
  3. Predictive algorithm that improves as more patients are tested
